Aim of the Courses
The curriculum aims at providing a sound training in CM.
As the European standards require that all schools teach a common approved curriculum, so far we felt that we should fulfil these requirements. We want, however, to clarify to our future students that China never had a unified way of working with Acupuncture (and Chinese medicine in general) and that they should be aware that standardisation can only be achieved by sacrificing all that which is different, sacrificing, in this way, important and even essential aspects of this medicine.
By the end of the course students will have reached the needed standards required by all major organisations in Europe and by the WHO guidelines as well as a 'bachelor level in agreement with the guidelines of Bologna. Most importantly for AOM, our future students will achieve a thorough understanding of the core view of the world and life that inspires the this medicine: the alignment of spirit, mind, body and the way of taking care of this 'centre'.
AOM offers a course with teachings that differs from the standard TCM suggested curriculum (which is, however, covered, pointing out the differences and our preferred clinical approach).
Most of the teachings are based of literature references like a. the Huangdi Neijing 皇帝內經 (Yellow Emperor), b. the teaching of the Ming Men school. Both give a precise view of how life comes into being and how this process determines a certain understanding of physiology). Neither sources ever departed from Dao and Five Elements (wuxing 五行) and their manifestations. In other words, they always thought it necessary to operate from within the fundamental law of resonance, of fine alignment of body, mind and spirit.
These underlying framework provided, both then and now, the essential keys for entering the mystery of life, supporting life and re-establishing its harmony.
